Gov. Abbott announced he would be sending apprehended migrants to Washington, D.C., via charter buses to send a message to President Joe Biden. However, he misled the public about the use of force necessary for this tactic. The buses will detain them.
Texas is experienced in handling natural disasters, so it’s no surprise that they have a plan to deal with the surge of immigrants crossing the border. Texas has contracted as many as 900 charter buses to help with natural disaster evacuations in the past.
Texas is sending buses to Washington D.C. to help the influx of illegal immigrants that the Biden administration has dropped off in local communities. The hope is that by sending them to D.C., the Biden administration will be better able to address their needs.
It is inhumane to send immigrants on buses to Washington because they are not familiar with the culture and will face many challenges. They would be much better off staying in Texas, where they can be close to family and friends and have a support system. Additionally, the climate in Washington is much different than in Texas, and immigrants would likely struggle.
In response to increased border crossings during the Biden administration, Governor Abbott initiated Operation Lone Star, a mission that has deployed 10,000 National Guard and DPS troopers to the Mexico border. Operation Lone Star is costing Texas taxpayers $2.5 million per week.
If this money were instead used to help the immigrants in Texas, it would benefit more people.
Governor Abbott was asked how much it would cost to get buses for the National Guard and DPS troopers sent to the Mexico border. He said that the money was available, but he didn’t give a specific amount.

Mexican immigrants suffer various hardships when crossing the border into the United States. They may experience physical dangers such as harsh weather conditions, dehydration, and exhaustion. They may also be robbed or attacked by criminals. Some immigrants are detained by U.S. border authorities and face the risk of deportation. Others become lost in the desert. The immigrants who flee their country are just looking for a better life. We should not treat them as a threat.
This response by Abbott is mainly due to Biden repealing Title 42 last week. Title 42 was a policy started by President Donald Trump that removed all asylum-seeking migrants from the U.S.
Republican leaders are worried that more people will cross the border when the National Guard and DPS troopers leave. Border Patrol officials say that after May 23, when law Title 42 expires, they expect as many as 18,000 people per day to cross the border. Last week officials said that 7,100 migrants were arriving every day.
Mexicans have been migrating to the United States for centuries in search of a better life. Many have faced discrimination and prejudice, but they have persevered and made significant contributions to American society. Mexican-Americans should advocate for their fellow Mexicans who are still struggling to make a better life for themselves and their families.
Abbott also announced that he authorizes DPS troopers to do more safety inspections of vehicles crossing the border. This will include having boat and container blockades on the Rio Grande River and low water crossings, putting razor wire on low water crossings, and having the National Guard begin mass migration trials ahead of the May end to Title 42.
Putting razor wire on low water crossings can be dangerous. If someone falls into the water while crossing, the razor wire could cause serious injury. Additionally, if the wire becomes tangled or wrapped around someone, it could lead to drowning.
Texas officials want Governor Abbott to say that the situation at the southern border is an invasion. This would mean that DPS troopers and National Guard could force migrants to leave the country instead of just arresting them when they cross the border.
The consequences of declaring the immigrants an invasion can be vast and dangerous, but it’s a tool that can be used.
Some people call the people who have come to the U.S. searching for safety an invasion. But that is not true. America was built by people looking for a safe place to live, just like these people are. So it is unfair to say that these people should be kept out of our country.
