Diversity in the New Top Gun Movie Proves Positive Changes

The new Top Gun movie will have a more diverse cast of characters, which is good. It’s been a long time since the first movie came out, and times have changed. We need to see more diversity in our films to reflect the world we live in today. Young people must see people from different backgrounds in our movies to see that anyone can be a hero.

Danny Ramirez is an up-and-coming Latino actor who has been gaining attention for his role in the new 2022 top gun movie. Danny is a charismatic and passionate young man who uses his platform to speak out about the injustices faced by the Latino community. Danny is proud to be a Latino actor and is determined to use his voice to make a difference in the world. Danny is an inspiring young man who will make a significant impact in the years to come.

The new film sounds like it will be a much-needed update to the original. The original movie had a white cast, so it’s great to see that the new film will be more racially diverse. This is an essential issue because, in the past, movies did not feature diversity as if Latinos and blacks did not exist. This can be damaging because it gave the impression that their world was exclusive and that we were just viewers in it. One of the primary reasons I went into filmmaking was because, as a young girl, I would always look for characters in movies who looked like me. The only film I would watch frequently enough to make a lasting impression was My Fair Lady. I remember thinking that my dark hair and features were okay because Audrey Hepburn had dark hair and dark features. Unfortunately, most of us millennials growing up in the 90s had to face this unfortunate reality; however, it’s refreshing and empowering to see that change is being made. Just the other day, I watched a sequel to one of my favorite trilogy movies, Scream, with my little generation Z nieces, and I loved the fact that the lead was a Latina. It felt great to see my nieces have the experience of seeing a Latina character to that they can relate to.

The new film will also feature female pilots for the first time. This is a positive step forward, as the original film was widely criticized for its treatment of women. In particular, the love interest character Maverick falls for—Charlie—is portrayed as little more than a pretty face with no real agency or personality.

With its more diverse cast and strong female characters, the new Top Gun looks like it will be a more progressive and inclusive film than its predecessor. Here’s hoping it lives up to the hype.
